Who is responsible

The Chess Sound website and service are operated by the project operator (“we”, “us”). For privacy requests, contact us through the Contact section on the Chess Sound homepage.

What data we process

When you use the generator after a successful payment, you send a chess game in PGN text form and choices such as musical style (and related options). That content is processed on our servers only to produce MP3 and MIDI files and to return them in the response.

We keep internal records linked to payments (such as identifiers from Mercado Pago, payment status, and a technical reference linking your browser session to an approved purchase). This is needed to confirm payment, prevent abuse, and handle support requests.

We do not use your PGN to train public machine-learning models and we do not sell your PGN as a dataset.

Purposes and bases (summary)

We process data to provide the service you asked for (generating audio from your game), to handle payments and entitlement (one paid generation per approved payment, as described in the Terms of Use), and to keep the site secure and reliable.

Depending on your jurisdiction, the legal bases may include performance of a contract, legitimate interest (security, fraud prevention, and limited analytics), and compliance with law.

Mercado Pago

Payments are processed by Mercado Pago. Card and payment-wallet data are collected and stored by Mercado Pago under its own terms and privacy policy. We receive only what is needed to know whether a payment was approved, pending, or failed, and related identifiers.

Cookies

After a successful or pending checkout, we may set a first-party, HTTP-only cookie with a short technical reference to your approved payment session. The generator uses it to confirm that your request is tied to a valid purchase. It usually lasts about one hour.

The cookie is not readable by JavaScript in the page, applies only to our site, and is removed when you finish a generation or when it expires.

Browser storage (localStorage)

If a payment stays pending (for example some bank transfers or Pix), the site may store a payment reference in your browser’s localStorage so we can show a reminder and let you check status when you return. You can remove it by clearing site data for Chess Sound in your browser settings.

Analytics

We may use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how the site is used in aggregate. Where this tool is active, Google processes technical and usage data under Google’s policies. You can limit tracking with browser extensions, by blocking third-party scripts, or through your browser’s privacy settings.

Retention

We retain payment-related records for as long as needed to run the service, meet tax or accounting obligations, handle disputes, and protect our rights. PGN you send is processed to fulfil that request and is not used to build marketing profiles about you. Short-term operational logs may be kept for security and troubleshooting.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing, or to object or port data. Contact us through the Contact section on the Chess Sound website. We may need to verify your identity. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority where applicable.

Security and transfers

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures for a service of this kind. Mercado Pago, and Google when Analytics is used, may process data in several countries under their own terms.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy when the service or the law changes. Continued use after updates means you accept the revised policy, except where applicable law requires additional steps.
